And think that I only support higher taxes for the higher income earners because I'm not one?
Nope. I am in the top bracket, I earn a damn good living, and I could always do with more money (3 kids and all)... BUT. I AM HAPPY TO BE TAXED THE HIGHEST.
When I say I could do with more money, it's really because I want niceties. I don't really NEED that extra money, we do really well, we don't want for anything really.
I am happy to be taxed more than those who need the money for, oh, I don't know... FOOD, RENT etc.
And the typical republican bullshit of 'well, why don't they just work harder and get better jobs' COMPLETELY ignores the leg up they received by getting a good education, supportive family, money for all the things they wanted/needed.
Man these sorts of rich, entitled shits are a waste of friggen space.
Progressive tax is the only "fair" tax you can make. A flatlined tax would be deeply unfair.
If by "fair" you mean "level the playing field" ideas of taxes. States with sales taxes work very well and are "flat". Flat taxes make since in all but only the most extreme cases of poverty, there are always rules of exception with anything and those can be worked out with certain special case stuff. But the bulk of America would benifit from a flat taxes.
I don't see how taking more money from someone because they have more is fair at all though. The only cases I see it being unfair is for those who truely poor beyond all ablilty to exist, but once again, that is a minority of the people in the US. It doesn't make since to make a tax code based on the rules of exception, be that rich or poor.
Anyway, did you think her hair was odd? If she is a blond, then I am a world renoun tax lawyer.
WOW, Just WOW
You're supposed put the bleach in your hair babe, not drink it.
I hope she gets knocked up then suddenly discovers why some of us like our little pro-choice thing.
Yeah, ok, everyone take out loans, what could POSSIBLY go wrong.
She must get this economic advice from watching how her government pays for the war.
Nothin ethical about that.

There's two definitions of fairness: equitable fairness (give everyone an equal slice) and proportional fairness (give everyone a slice proportional to their contribution).
In game theory studies, females average more toward the former and males average more toward the latter.
The U.S. believes in the latter more than any other wealthy nation, though demographic shifts seem likely to push the U.S. to the left on our fairness definition.
I think there are good arguments on both sides of the issue for many reasons.

Holy CRAP I HATE that mindset...
fucking democracy gives people the idea their "opinions" on stuff are somehow automatically validated. "i have a right to my opinion" etc etc etc

I think she is a hypocrite, she has christian values yet she dyes her hair, and tans her skin, and flaunts her parts for every one to see.
The above statement is why I am not christian any more.
Tangent:
If any thing my faith is more Budo, life and death. I believe that when I drink my cup of tea, and something happens I take care of the problem and then go back to my cup of tea.
I cant abide stuck up people, so your daddy is rich? What have you done for yourself? Still living off of daddy? I thought so.
....Always closet democrats hiding in the cupboard.
Noone is ever a true conservative
It takes a truly stupid person to attribute morality to the Republican party, or to think, "I'm a Christian, and therefore I should vote Republican." Enough with that bullshit.

What do Christian values have to do with dying one's hair? And you quit Christianity because people are hypocrites? There's your problem.
Exactly I wanted to be a hypocrite, and why I think its OK for any one to flaunt any parts that they want.
Your statement shows that you a read my statement from a hostile point of view.
I also think its OK for gay people to be gay, and for you to be able to say what you feel is right especially in your comment above.

But aren't both points moot in a way? Regardless of whether you have a flat or progressive rate, given the current system and the ability to game it for deductions and exemptions through shrewd accounting, the rich--and in particular corporations--who can afford such accountants will still wind up paying less than their fair share (however you define "fair").
Removing the system of deductions, on the other hand, is problematic also, because gross income rarely tells the whole story. For instance, so what if you made $100,000 last year? If you're hospitalized for several months and have to pay $80,000 in hospital fees, then you're probably not livin' large or carrying around large amounts of disposable income. Deductions and adjusted gross income takes things like this into account.
I guess I don't see a need to majorly overhaul the current system. No, it's not perfect by any means. Like all complex systems (the legal system for instance) it should constantly be monitored and adjusted. But I don't think throwing it out entirely is the panacea that a lot of people seem to think it would be.
I'll choose the Nazi's.
I solemnly swear that on the day she becomes a doctor, I will eat my own head.
