These two may have time management down to a T in their own lives, but most of what they talk about reeks of pop psychology. When you get to select your sample population you can write your 'big idea' book about almost anything.

Upvote because it's a good reminder that everyone should reassess the time they devote to their career regularly.

It's a tough life for overeducated and chronically self-reflective Caucasians. It may just be my perspective, but these two seem delightfully detached from the reality most humans live in. The challenges of 'survival' have been replaced by the need for 'fulfillment'. It is good advice for the lucky individuals it applies to.

It's not that I disagree with you Schmawy, but you have to realize, that audience that they sit in front of is filled with those sorts of people, as is the Silicon Valley in which the audience is placed. When I watch this, I can think of many people who should see it. Hell, I wish I could time-email it back to my ex-husband in the days before we separated.

Do these people have problems on par with earthquake victims? Is this of as much moment as election fraud? No and no. But the gifted people-working-at-the expense-of-their-quality-of-life problem is common in some areas--areas which include the audience for this presentation.

I see "existence proofs" as important. Talking to people you can identify with and hearing of histories of similar people can make a difference--more than independent self-reflection can.

True that, Oxie, sorry if I come off as bitter or unsympathetic. Everyone's worst day is their worst regardless of other's experiences. As is mentioned, some give so much to their work that they almost cease to be should they stop. I've never been to or worked in Silicon valley, but many of these mini-millionaires seem to be in a surreal struggle for a different type of survival, that of their soul and for self actualization. It sure seems weird to me, but I can see it being very real. Basic Maslow's hierarchy.

[e]: I think they're 'Bobos' I'm tempted to add a tag, but I won't.
