Now imagine entering the atmosphere at 17,000 mph. Pray all you want. Magic or technology isn't going to help you if something goes catastrophically wrong at such high speeds and altitudes.
NASA -better- learn from this failure. All the more reason for a next-gen shuttle program (which was in the works by the way).. conveniently cut by the federal government.

The US govt would -never- do anything that would harm it's people or their rights? Learn a bit of history my friends..
-open air nuke testing near civilian settlements on US soil.
-LSD experimentation on unaware US soldiers
-syphilis/sterilization experiments on unaware african americans.
-unwarranted imprisonment of US -citizens- of Japanese ancestry.
-paranoid witch hunts of McCarthyism.
-govt endorsed segragation and women's suffrage.
-the fact that the US was -not- settled/based upon 'freedom', but initially built on the backs of slaves.
The list goes on and on.
To question the government is the right of EVERY US citizen. On small issues, to large issues. Put the facts forward and openly and clearly review them. This has -yet- to be done thoroughly and independently. Is the US govt complicit in 9/11? Probably not, but there are serious questions which need to be answered. There are holes in the story and inconsistency abounds. While not surprising is such a large scale event, the facts are/were there, but were conveniently shuffled away and trashed/recycled quite quickly.
I suspect not because of a conspiracy, but rather political cover to hide the government's incompetence. By BOTH parties.
